This is an undated slide, so take the date given lightly. This looks to possibly be Car 202, built as a 48-seat coach for "Californian" service. An unusual feature of these cars is that they were built with smooth, painted sides, but circa 1947 all ten of these cars were given fluting below the windows only, so as to better blend in with equipment on Rock Island trains of the post-war era. |
